ACEGUARD BA

ACRYLIC BASED BONDING PRIMER AND WATERPROOF ADMIXTURE

ACEGUARD BA is a multipurpose acrylic based bonding primer and waterproof admixture for cementitious coatings. It increases surface adhesion characteristics of the substrate which facilitates top coat adhesion. ACEGUARD BA also improves the flexural and compressive strength of cement based compounds while enhancing waterproof properties of mortars and slurries. Due to low permeability of polymer modified system, properties of anti-carbonation and resistance to chloride ion penetration is observed.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Fresh masonry or concrete substrate must be allowed to cure for at least 14 days. Clean the area from all loose particles, oil, grease and any such deleterious materials. All surface cracks should be filled up with a paste of Cement and ACEGUARD BA mixed in ratio of 2:1 and applied using a trowel to seal the gaps.

APPLICATION

Bonding Primer: To use as a bonding primer coat over non porous substrate, mix ACEGUARD BA with clean potable water in the ratio 1:1 by weight. Apply one continuous coat of the dilute with roller/brush on the substrate. Ensure to apply the requisite topcoat when the bond coat is still tacky.

Cement Mortar: A suitable mix ratio for patching repair mortar is Portland cement: 50 kg, Quartz sand: 150 kg, ACEGUARD BA: 10 kg & Water: 10 Kg. Mix it thoroughly using a paddle mixer. Apply polymer modified mortars in multiple coats at a maximum thickness of 5 mm per coat. Subsequent coats can be applied within 15 to 30 minutes of the previous coat.

Waterproofing slurry: Pour 20 kg ACEGUARD BA in a sizeable container and slowly add 30 kg Portland cement (1:1.5) into it by continuous mixing using electric mixer to produce lump free homogeneous slurry. On damp surface, apply the first coat using a roller/brush in one direction. After the first coat is dried, apply second coat perpendicular to the first coat. For demanding application, apply an additional third coat at a direction perpendicular to first coat.
